Following weeks of beta releases to developers and public beta testers, iOS 10.2 is now officially available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models compatible with the new software. The updated platform has a plethora of new features baked in, including minor tweaks and some big new additions.

You can see the full list of the new features baked into iOS 10.2 right here.

  • Registered developers can download the iOS 10.2 beta from the Apple Developer Center or over-the-air with the right configuration profile installed. There are also new wallpapers in iOS 10.2.
  • Apple pushed out the first developer beta for iOS 10.2 on October 31st. That beta featured the new Unicode 9.0 emoji, a widget for the Videos app and three new wallpapers. Other than that, it was.

Just some of the new user-facing additions include a new TV app, which lets you play all your purchases from iTunes. But the hot new feature is in the “Watch Now” section. This is where you’ll be able to connect all your media apps to the TV app and get a singular experience for watching all compatible content. It also connects with the Single Sign-on feature.

To access the new feature, and sign into a supported TV provider, just head into Settings and then find the TV Provider option. Selecting that will bring up options to choose from, including CenturyLink, Dish, DirecTV, and others. The single sign-on feature is available only in the United States (and the territory Guam).

Single sign-on officially went live in a preview state in early November, alongside beta releases of iOS 10.2 and tvOS 10.1. With it, iOS and tvOS users can sign in once with their credentials post which they will be automatically logged in to that service in any app. It should make signing into multiple apps easier, which will make watching content faster as well.

As listed by Apple, here are the apps supported so far with Single Sign-On:

  • A&E (iOS only)
  • Bravo Now (tvOS only)
  • E! Now (tvOS only)
  • Hallmark Channel Everywhere (iOS and tvOS)
  • History (iOS only)
  • Lifetime (iOS only)
  • NBC (tvOS only)
  • Syfy Now (tvOS only)
  • Telemundo Now (tvOS only)
  • USA NOW (tvOS only)
  • Watch HGTV (iOS and tvOS)
  • Watch Food Network (iOS and tvOS)
  • Watch Cooking Channel (iOS and tvOS)
  • Watch DIY (iOS and tvOS)
  • Watch Travel Channel (iOS and tvOS)

The new software also includes a plethora of new emoji, a new widget for TV, an SOS feature in the iPhone, new wallpapers, new full screen effects in iMessage, and more.

Warning for Jailbreakers

Well-known hacker and security researcher Luca Todesco had warned jailbreakers to avoid upgrading to iOS 10.2 as Apple has patched several vulnerabilities which will make it even more difficult to jailbreak iOS 10.2.
